Welcome Class of 2016! Move-In Broadcast

With the start of the 2012-2013 academic year swiftly approaching, tons of new students from around the world will be moving in a Carnegie Mellon. To make the process more enjoyable for all, WRCT has partnered with CMU’s Housing and Dining Services to bring our brand new members of the campus community a special Move-In broadcast.

This Sunday, August 19, we’ll be bringing you live updates on Orientation and traffic, mixed in with some of our favorite tunes. The broadcast begins at 9 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. Tune in in your car (88.3 FM) or online (wrct.org). Regularly scheduled programming will be preempted during this broadcast.

Satellite broadcasts will also be available on campus at Morewood Gardens, The Hill, and The Residence on Fifth.

We’ll bee broadcasting live from Morewood Gardens, so stop by and say hello to our staff!

On behalf of all of us here at WRCT: Welcome, Class of 2016!

An update on Summer Schedule

Loyal listeners of WRCT,

You will be thrilled, I’m sure, to know that Summer Schedule is in full swing! I am pleased to announce a few changes from the spring schedule. Monday afternoons are now filled with an extra jolt of metal, hard rock, and punk you love, with “Post-Progressive Disorder” at 1 p.m. and “Black Coffee” at 3 p.m. We are lucky to have the mysterious Mr. Slime with the brand new “Bleach Radio” on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. to noon, and just 12 hours later the very lovely Miss Mary Mack is back with “Chick Pea,” reclaiming her old slot at 10 p.m. And be sure to check out the girl in a daze of dreams; we now have a power block of great music with the new “Uptown Girl” starting at noon, and “Salad Daze” and “Bridge City Dreamer” following in their usual slots.

Be sure to tune in during these next few months to get that je ne sais quoi effect music has on summer activities. Who knows, you may even see a unicorn riding a tyranosaurus rex flying on a rocket-powered sailboat to the third moon of Jupiter. Or you could just read a nice book outside. That’s probably what I’ll be doing. When I’m not locked in a windowless room making the schedule for fall. Bon été!

(But seriously if you’re seeing that t-rex thing you probably had one too many shrooms, man.)

-Ryan, WRCT Program Director
