Hi there listeners! In case you didn’t know, WRCT Pittsburgh is Carnegie Mellon University’s radio station and this Tuesday is a special day of celebration for college radio stations— it’s College Radio Day. The aim of College Radio Day is to harness the combined listenership of hundreds of thousands of college radio listeners throughout the world and to celebrate the important contribution of college radio by uniting for this one day. Think about all of the music that WRCT and other college radio stations have introduced to you throughout the years. Think about what your radio would sound like if there was no college radio. Please encourage your friends who would not normally listen to college radio to do so on this day and join WRCT in supporting freeform college radio.

It’s that time of year again. The weather is getting colder, the days are getting shorter, and the music is getting better. VIA is approaching. In case you didn’t know, VIA is the USA’s best October electronic festival (according to Resident Advisor and WRCT), but it’s actually so much more. Laurel Halo, Julia Holter, Tiger & Woods, Moodymann, Girl Unit, and all sorts of crazy fun visuals and workshops await us.
Thanks to the CMU Activities Board, students get 25% off weekend VIA passes. Use the code VIA2012CMU through the Showclix site. You will have to show your CMU ID and state-issued ID to redeem your ticket at door. There is a limited number so git em git em!
Also, pay attention to your favorite radio station for ticket giveaways.
