PGH Folk bands featured on WBB June 15 & 22

On WRCT’s Whiskey Before Breakfast, we’re going to have features on two outstanding bands from the Pittsburgh folk music community.


  • Shortly after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, fiddler Mark Tamsula, banjoist Richard Withers, and guitarist Dave Krysty will be playing some tunes from their new album Neighbors in the Cloud Land and talking about traditional music in SW Pennsylvania and Sam Bayard’s collections of traditional SW Pennsylvania tunes (1920s – 1960s). Lively music and conversation! Recorded on a front porch — just like this music was meant to be played! (Encore broadcast: 9:00 a.m. Thursday June 23)
  • Shortly after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, members of The Early Mays will join us to talk about their forthcoming EP Prettiest Blue and their June 25 concert at UU SongSpace celebrating the release of the new EP! Ellen Gozion and Emily Pinkerton are known for their love of traditional songs, ballads, and harmony. Add Cello Fury‘s Nicole Meyers and you’ve got a really fresh take on this traditional music. Southern Rock Legend Henry Paul comes to Court!

Thursday, June 2, Henry Paul of the iconic Southern Rock band The Outlaws and country act BlackHawk joins your Rockin’ Attorney, Eric Jackson Lurie on WRCT’s Court’s in Session. Henry will discuss the upcoming release of the new BlackHawk album Blue Highway as well as talk about the return of The Outlaws to Pittsburgh on June 8th at Jergel’s.

Talking about his classic hits like “Green Grass and High Tides Forever,” “There Goes Another Love Song,” “Ghost Riders in the Sky” and his eclectic musical history, Henry Paul’s story and conversation will make radio you won’t want to miss. TRIUMPH DRUMMER GIL MOORE TESTIFIES!

Join your Rockin’ Attorney, Eric Jackson Lurie when legendary Triumph singer/drummer, Gil Moore joins Court’s in Session this week, shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Thursday May 12!

Prior to the May 13th national debut of the pay-per-view documentary Triumph: Rock ‘n’ Roll Machine, Gil will talk about the massive success of one of Canada’s most famous rock bands, including their rise to international stardom.

Stay tuned to WRCT throughout the show as Eric will give away digital passes for you to host your own viewing party for the Triumph documentary.
