Second Lady of PA Gisele Fetterman Shares Brazilian Music Faves on WRCT

Gisele Fetterman, Second Lady of Pennsylvania (who adopted the title “SLOP”) will appear on WRCT’s From Ipanema to the World on Friday, September 25, at 7:00 p.m.

Gisele was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was 7 years old when her mother, a PHD in Brazil, took her children out of the country due to the epidemic of violent crime in Rio. They came to America as undocumented immigrants, and Gisele’s educated mother found the only work she could: cleaning houses and hotels in New York City.

“We knew no one. We were the first people in our family to emigrate. We didn’t speak English,” says Gisele. Today she is married to Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman, and has amassed an impressive collection of her own extraordinary achievements.

Gisele will talk about her experiences and bring along a playlist of her favorite Brazilian music — on From Ipanema to the World, Friday September 25, at 7:00 p.m. on 88.3 FM, Pittsburgh and streaming from this very website!

WRCT Fall 2020 Schedule is posted

Now that the fall semester is under way at Carnegie Mellon University, WRCT is pleased to announce the return of student-run, in-studio shows to our Fall 2020 schedule.

Since the pandemic crisis began in March, CMU students and WRCT community volunteers have been keeping the intelligent, energetic, and diverse programming you’ve come to associate with WRCT on the air with remote recorded programs. This fall, many of our student-run shows return to live programming from the WRCT studios.

In addition, some of our local Public Affairs programs will return to our studios: Ebony Spectrum (6:00 p.m. Wednesdays) and Fifth Quarter (7:00 p.m. Fridays) to start — others will follow as circumstances allow. For example, due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions, WRCT cannot yet host live music on our Advanced Calculus program. However, you can hear some of the intriguing live sets of music that have aired previously on Advanced Calculus: Recitation, Mondays at 9:00 p.m.

So check out our Fall 2020 schedule (effective Monday, September 7). Whether they’re live in the WRCT studios or broadcasting from their home studios, WRCT community volunteers and CMU students will continue to broadcast Pittsburgh’s best variety of music and public affairs programming 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on 88.3 FM, Pittsburgh, or streaming from this very website!
