There’s a lot going on this weekend in the world of WRCT.
On tomorrow’s edition of the Saturday Light Brigade, tune in for Mexican guitarist Dieter Hennings and conductor Federico Garcia!
Beginning at 3pm, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, we will broadcast “November 22, 1963: Portrait in Sound”.
It will be produced and narrated by WRCT host Jay Thurber, the hour-long program blends interviews with Carnegie Mellon University alumni (recorded in 2003), the hit songs of November 1963, original news broadcasts and Dallas police radio transmissions.
Listen to The Hustle with B-Side on Sunday from 10pm-12am for your chance to win tickets to “The Best of Keane Live from Berlin” screening at the SouthSide Works Cinema on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 7:30 PM.
Happy listening!

Happy Halloween everyone! Some of our more spirited DJs have special themed shows this week (Halloween and otherwise). Check them out below.
A Minute Pause — Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Shawn Watson will be playing four hours of loosely Halloween-themed music during his show on Tuesday. You can also catch him playing a Halloween playlist at Kelly’s Bar and Lounge Wednesday starting at 9 p.m.
Blue Velvet & Black Coffee — Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Patrick will be playing a Halloween-themed show with esoteric spooky songs.
Couch Dancing — Wednesday at 2 p.m.
A yearly tradition since her first Halloween show in 2006, DJ Firefly will be playing 3 hours of deliciously ghostly-creepy spytastic grooves designed to give you nightmares & heebee-jeebies (or at least a decent costume idea). This year she’ll also be featuring several tracks by local Pittsburgh musicians.
Pinkney Hall — Friday at 9 a.m.
This Friday, enjoy two hours of Pinkney Hall. The first hour will feature songs about trains. Then, to commemorate Lou Reed’s passing, you’ll hear Metal Machine Music. Reed said of this record, “No one I know has listened to it all the way through, including myself.” But that all changes Friday, when Kenny Joe plays the entire record starting around 9:50 a.m.
Zombo in Your Brain — Friday at noon.
Zombo will be doing an all ghost show this Friday from noon to 4 p.m.
